For some, Johnny Winter's debut album for Columbia remains his high-water mark for its seamless meld of blues and hard rock. For most of the rest, it was his later group, with Rick Derringer and Murray Krugman stepping into the producer's chairs (as well as Derringer being a member of the band), which provided the defining moments in '70s blues-rock/5(17).

The Live CD has a traditional Rock and Roll set of tunes that features Derringer singing and trying to get the crowd into it. It worked. Johnny WInter And has some quality tunes as well including his early version of Rock and Roll Hoockie Koo (Derringer's song). Anyway, overall good stuff but with poor sound quality/5.

I have a Rotel pre-amp/amplifier with Bowers and Wilkins tower speakers and a Music Hall MMF-5 turntable and the combination transported me back to feeling as if Johnny and his band, along with guests like Willie Dixon, were in my living room performing. I've even enjoyed the warm sound of this album with some cheap Panasonic headphones/5().
